This weeks Friday My Town Shoot Out was chosen by Sarah Lulu and is "Look Up..Look Down" - Sarah is no longer part of the group but it was considered such a good topic, it was adopted!
If you look down to the stones before my front door, you will see a selection of stones which I have painted and varnished. I have put uplifting words and phrases on there along with a clump of stones of people who have/are fighting cancer. The idea behind this is so that when I cross my threshold each day, my thoughts are focused on positive words and my thoughts are also directed at those special people.

Looking up at the trees in the orchard of Erddig Hall and you can see clumps of mistletoe growing in them - it is so pretty! I look forward to each winter just so that I can indulge myself.

If I look down when I am at mums house there is usually a dog to be seen! In this case it is Al, a 15 year old border terrier. Bless him, he is deaf and blind and spends alot of his time looking down too.
Great shoot out - have a great weekend everyone! I am off to Prestatyn to the Gathering 2010!
I love the stones - what a great idea. And Bagman wants to go and stand under the mistletoe tree for a few weeks!
ReplyDeleteWow ,real mistletoe? Sadly I do not think I have ever seen the real thing!
ReplyDeleteThe boys and I painted stones years ago...you've reminded me of them.
ReplyDeleteYour sweet 15 yr. old doggy...just to think of him creates a need for a hug.
:)
Cool on the mistletoe it grew where I lived and we would go pull some down at Christmas. My father told me it was like a fungus though, over took the tree?
ReplyDeleteThe rocks are great. I have a basket of them under my coffee table. When a new person visits my house for dinner or tea, they get to write me a message, it goes back in the basket and I look at them once a year, and reminds me of how special people are!
Peace Sara!

I love the stone idea. My grands have done stones for us and leave them laying around all the time. I love the doggie too. I love those soft shaggy ones. Blessings dear Sara.

I love your shot of the stones. That is such a wonderful idea. Just looking at them made me feel positive. I like the colors you used also.
ReplyDeleteWe used to go pick mistletoe in California. What a wonderful treat to live by a tree that grows mistletoe.
The stones are a wonderful uplifting way to enter/leave your house. I loved seeing your old dog, too; old dogs are the best.
ReplyDeleteAre they your pets? Great idea writing positive words on them.
ReplyDeleteNext time I go to a certain small town (name I forgot) I will pick up some white porcelian rocks for you.
I love, and had to chuckle over, the shot of the dog from above. That's how we really see them most of the time.
